not providing services we paid for
3
Highly dysfunctional and toxic environment, unsure how they actually help anyone. Behind the beautiful facade of expensive buildings is a program that is not as it presents itself. We were dismayed to witness the backstabbing by staff and administration of each other, lack of communication, lack of follow through with providing services we were paying for, lack of parent training, overcrowding, outright denial/deception and lies told to us by the program director, unwillingness to answer questions about why our daughter's medications were repeatedly being messed up, lack of qualifications of individuals making important decisions, and animals not being properly cared for on campus. The educational staff/academics seem to be a highlight, but this is supposedly a treatment program. Therapy staff were young and inexperienced with complex cases and diagnoses. We heard of a room where they confine the girls who act out, and that they do not allow them to communicate with their family unless they behave in ways Alpine considers appropriate. Our daughter described constant chaos, poor decisions, and that most of the girls come from wealthy/famous families and are dumped there with little contact with their parents. This program doesn't encourage contact with parents, and withholds important treatment information leaving parents in the dark about their daughter's progress. We heard of many disgruntled parents who pull their daughters out daily, only to be replaced by another acting out child who needs help and a family desperately seeking assistance. This place is AWFUL, they cannot help anyone until they fix their dysfunctional system and administrative/professional staff. Look elsewhere if you are considering residential treatment for your teen daughter. This program should be investigated.
