Not honoring an advertised sale and charging a shipping fee
On Friday 12-7-18, I went to the Things Remember shop in the Midland Mall to purchase a necklace for my daughter (same as I purchased a couple of years ago, someone stole it from my daughter so I wanted to replace it for Christmas). As I walked in the store, there was a display with the exact necklace I was looking for. I asked the Employee for the one I needed and while she went to get it I noticed that everywhere in the store there were signs saying, buy one and get 70% off a second item in the entire store. The Employee said that she did not have the necklace for the month of April as I needed and that she would have to order it. She said that it would take about 7 days to get here. I said ok as I looked around and decided on my 2nd item. She claimed that because the necklace was on sale I could not get the 2nd item for the 70% off, I told her that if that was the case they should add that to the signs, she didn't seem to care, neither did the other Employee who I overheard tell another Customer that she was the Manager. I paid for my purchase and the Employee gave me the receipt and told me to come back in 2 hours. I asked if she had found one because she had told me that she did not have it in stock, she then said that she forgot and that I had to pay for shipping, almost $9. I asked why I had to pay shipping if it was not my fault that they did not have it in stock, I proceeded to remind her of the display upfront. She claimed that she had to charged me and asked me if I still wanted it. I paid for the shipping even though I told her that I have never been charged shipping in a store when the item is shipped to the store where I have to go back and pick it up. It didn't seem to matter to her. When I got home, I looked up the necklace I wanted on the website, and on purchases over $50 there is no shipping fee. I was very unhappy about my visit to this location and the way the Employees didn't seem to care. I hope that something can be done about this issue. Thank you Martha James 432-312-****
