Nonworking remote

The remote for my new Harbor Breeze Mazon ceiling fan does not work properly. It will only work intermittently if I remove the back cover and hold the battery down firmly. Shouldn't have to do this with a brand new remote! I have tried repeatedly to contact Harbor Breeze customer service but they don't answer their phones...EVER! How do I get this remote replaced?
