I moved into this apartment complex in February, 2010. At lease renewal, I was not duly informed of a $10 per month rent increase. Not a huge amount, but just irked me that I was not informed that my "new" rate was different from the "old" rate. One month ago, I decided to cancel my cable television service and called to inquire whether the service could be shut off mid-way through my lease term. I was told that, yes, this is possible, but that it will cost me a $30 disconnect fee. I reviewed my lease paperwork and nowhere could I find a stipulation about such a fee. You bet I'm going to battle this one! Breckinridge Court used to be a decent place to live. The ladies in the office have turned over multiple times, however, and none seem to know what exactly they are doing when I make an inquiry. As a warning to all would-be renters, Breckinridge's fees are weird, too. They make you pay for basic cable AND water IN ADDITION to your base rent. On top of that is any pet rent you may owe. So, they may quote you $549 for a one-bedroom place, but you'll end up paying $38 for cable and around $35 for rent directly to the Leinbach Company. Pet rent is another $150 deposit and an extra $20 per month. This place just nickels and dimes you to death. They take what seems on the surface to be a good deal in a decent neighborhood with a great location and make it into a really expensive situation! The only caveat I will make about living here is that the lead maintenance guy Anthony is really friendly and is very courteous and seems to care a lot about the residents here. I'll be gone when my lease is up!!!
