Nice lightweight enclosed trailer (6×12)
2
I recently purchased a used Pace American Journey 6x12 enclosed trailer to move personal items from Ohio to Florida. The trailer was well used but I thought it was in decent shape. I think it sat in an open farm field for many years due to the amount of rust on the underside. At one time, some owner must have put a very heavy load into the center because the 'I Beam' is curved down. The original floor was very springy so I added a 3/8 inch plywood floor on top and screwed it down with stainless steel screws plus I put 3 tubes of 'Liquid Nails' between the original floor and the new plywood. I sprayed (using an empty pump-up plastic can of Round-up) of Thompson Water Seal on the new wood. I went to a trailer sales outlet to buy a new crank-up leg. The owner told me to go to Harbor Freight Tools and even gave me a 20% off coupon. They had one left. Purchase price was $21.00. I went to a tire shop and had two 6-ply steel-belt tires put on to replace the deathtrap Bias tires. $69,00 ea. I like the trailer and I will only use it 3 or 4 times before I have to sell it. I paid $1500 + tax and license from a private owner. I need PACE JOURNEY decals and I cannot find where I can buy them. My e-mail is Clearyone @ Yahoo so if you know who sells the decals - e-mail me. Great little trailer that can be towed with a mini-van. U-Haul trailers weigh tons more and cannot be rented to mini-van owners like me. GO PACE AMERICAN!!
