This message is in no way a complaint with KSL, but rather speaking to a current situation we feel should be publicized. The local VA hospital is closing its needed aquatic therapy pool in order to replace it, according to the director there, with a `wellness center' on Oct. 1, 2019. This information was revealed to many of we veterans who have our physicians directions and prescription to use for the muscle therapeutic needs we have at our ages and physical problems. We have been told the `Community Partners" will provide like facilities in our area but refused to provide any further information as we have discovered on our own that only one similar facility actually exists in our entire area. Furthermore, we were not conferred with or advised of any alternatives. This has been identified by a source at the VA hospital as a continuing effort to privatize more services and force many of the standard services to the private sector without guarantee of any financial support. This would be in violation of the `Care' mission proscribed as the legal right of all veteran clients when provided services are unavailable or diminished. We have contacted all our national legislative representatives as to this situation to no avail - meaning no response. We need public attention to this decision, made solely - according to the hospital director - by herself and that she did not need the VA Secretary Wilkie's approval.
