My nightmare with Casablanca

My wife and I went to the timeshare presentation and got our certificate for a free cruise to Alaska with flights included. The instructions were very confusing, but I was determined to get the free cruise. I had to send them a $50.00 check and they gave instructions on how to pay for taxes, which ended up being $699.00 for a FREE trip, plus they never said anything about the $180.00 tips you are charged on the ship. All that was in August 2017. I was supposed to call to schedule the cruise. It took me more than 1 hour on the phone after several other calls with no answer. The guy got very upset when I didn't want to upgrade. It was too expensive and out of my range. He finally scheduled me for April 29, 2018. (almost 9 months later). I waited and called a month before, as instructed. She told me that if we didn't upgrade, the flights were going to be very long, going from LA to Phoenix and then to Seatle and it was going to be a day before the trip and return a day after the trip and I had to pay for hotel and transportation. He also told me that the room was going to be the smallest ones and on the very bottom of the ship and I was going to be dizzy all the time. When I said no, that lady told me that the ship was full and they couldn't give me the cruise. After a long argument, I asked to speak with a manager who wasn't available. I then told her I was going to take them to court and she finally transferred me to a manager. He was polite and offered me to change it to a cruise to Mexico. I said, "no, I want my cruise to Alaska". He also told me the ship was full, so I asked him to send us on a different date. He was able to fit us a week later, in a different cruise line. I have to say that the cruise was amazing. I did have to pay for transportation and hotel, but it was worth it. The instructions said that the $50.00 deposit was going to be refunded a month after the completion of the trip. I waited a month and called to see what happened with my money. The lady told me I had to wait another month. I asked why so long and she said that it is a month after I call requesting the refund, so if you forget or don't want to call 5 times to finally talk to somebody, you lose your deposit. The whole experience with Casablanca was a nightmare. They are rude, they don't return your calls. They rarely pick up the phone and want to upgrade you to get your money. My advice is don't go to the presentation unless you are really determined to hassle them and wait a year or so to take the cruise.
