Moving from CA to IL insured with OneBeacon Insurance
2
In 2009, I had to move and bought insurance for my move (more than $15,000 dollars worth of household items) through OneBeacon Insurance. When I received my items, I pointed to the delivery crews that there are possible damages to my goods and they told me to inspect and file the insurance later because they had another delivery to make and it was late. I did just that and contacted the Claim department the next day after I inspected and verified the damages. The rep, Pamela J Ball, told me that I had to have certification from authorized repair shops to proceed. I had to make appointments, paid for the inspection and certifications while I was working out of town. When I had the certifications, Pamela told me that I should have inspected my items WHILE the delivery crews was there!!! I explained to her that was impossible but she insisted that was the only way I was qualified for reimbursement. Results: 1. I paid for the insurance that I could not claim. 2. I ended up with more than $4,500 worth of insured property damages. 3. I lost time and additional money (more than $300) to obtain the "authorized repair shops" certifications. Conclusion: Avoid AT ALL COST to deal with this company AND ALL of its branches (such as Capacity Coverage Company of New Jersey) to save your time, money, and frustration.
