Losing internet continuously WITHOUT Shaw resolving!!!!!

We continuously lose our internet on our Shaw modem, even on my computer hooked up via Ethernet cable and not just Wi-Fi. Shaw's response is we need a newer modem BUT they will have to CHARGE us an extra monthly fee for the modem!!! Is that not part of the service???? Will be going to Bell or Telus when our contract expires in April. After being with Shaw since 95 I will NOT RECOMMEND SHAW to anyone!!!! User's recommendation: DO NOT USE SHAW!!!!!!
