Look for another specialty pharmacy

I cringe when I am told medication is coming from this pharmacy. I work with a Drug and Alcohol treatment facility. We periodically order a specific medication to assist our clients with their ability to maintain their sobriety. The medication works very effectively, and our hope is to get this once a month injection prior to the client leaving treatment. With this pharmacy, this rarely happens. I received a call today from a client stating their medication was ready, and they had authorized shipment. I followed up with a phone call to the pharmacy to arrange shipment. I was asked all the shipping information then was told "Oh, this medication will need a prior authorization". REALLY!!! You have an order 15 days, call the client, get authorization to ship, take all the shipping information, then decide you need a prior authorization. When asking the tech "Why am I just hearing that you need a prior authorization?" I was told "Ma'am we tell the Drs. Office". I stated, "I AM THE DRS. OFFICE". Asked to speak with a supervisor. Was put on hold for 15 more minutes waiting on a supervisor. If this was an isolated incident, I would say stuff happens. With this company, this is the norm. I am not sure if this company is going through some financial changes or what, but I can tell you that this is the level of customer of service you will receive. User's recommendation: Try to find another specialty pharmacy.
