Locked in a 5 year contract that provides no service!

The 1st time my alarm went off I was vacationing 5 hours from home. I received a call from BP Alarm to inform me that my home alarm went off. They informed me that they called my local police department and was told that my local police department does not respond to home alarms. When I asked if they would be contacting a local security company to check on my home they informed me "we don't do that, we only call the police." WHAT??? So I was contacted by BP alarm while 5 hours from home to tell me that my home is potentially being robbed, and they aren't going to do anything about it! I am not receiving a service at all. I asked to cancel the non-existent service, I was told I was under contract with BP Alarm and would continue to be billed for the next 5 years in spite of receiving zero service. BP alarm says they will continue to call my local police department if my alarm goes off.....and we both know they will continue to be told the local police does not respond to home alarms. User's recommendation: Steer clear of this one and shop around.
