Like the Steve Miller song… they will “Go on, take the money and run…”

Bar-none, one of the worst contractors I have ever worked with. And I have dealt with some bad ones. Back in March of this year, we had experienced a stretch of warm weather where it rained heavily, and together with the snow, caused a lot of water runoff. I was needing someone to come out to look at a leak at the foundation of my house. My friend, who owns a smart home company, suggested Rockies Renovations. He had said that they did some work for him, and were pretty good. A guy named Eric from Rockies come out, and look at the area I was having trouble with, and determined that I had some bad gutters in that area causing unnecessary overflow. Since we also needed roof work, I asked if they could give us a quote for a new roof and gutters. He agreed, and soon afterward sent me a quote. During that time, I had other people send quotes as well. Meanwhile Rockies was texting and emailing me telling me to hurry, the winter pricing of 10% off the total work would be ending soon. The Rockies quote with the discount was a pretty good deal of $9,436.50 for the roof and gutters. Finally, I agreed, and Eric came out to sign the contract. I put the initial 1/3 payment down ($3,145.50), and then I heard nothing for a while. A few months passed (late April), and I tried to call Eric to ask when we could set a date to get started. Well, it seems his phone was no longer in service, and after several inquiries to the owner Jon Walker, he said that Eric had moved to Texas. Great. Many emails to Jon, no replies and false start dates later, we finally had the roofers out in mid May. The roofer called me the morning of, and asked how he was getting paid for the materials. Not something you want to here as the customer. I called Jon, and he said to cut them a check to cover the materials, and I could subtract this from the total price. I did, and the roofers began. They were great, and did a fantastic job, but they were actually subcontractors for Rockies. No surprise. The day they finished, they wanted the final check which was supposed to be given at the very end of the whole job as a final payment, which would be after the gutters were also done. I reluctantly agreed (and in hindsight shouldn't have done), and at that point had paid the full contract amount. With the roofers gone, we needed the new gutters, and soon. Because the gutters were to be put up by another subcontractor, and the roofers thinking that they would be there a day or so after, the roofers left the gutters up loosely. Nope, I received no calls, no texts or emails. Nothing. I called Jon, left him messages, texted him and he finally called me one morning after I threatened to take him to court. He said a guy named Rock should have this taken care of, and he would be sure to get him to get the new gutters installed. This was over a week later, and meanwhile we've had several heavy rains, and I have been placing buckets where the gutters don't connect to the house and rain pours down. Fast forward to today (the date of this review), which is over two weeks after the roof has been finished, with only radio silence from Rockies. My wife and I have decided the only way to get these gutters done is to have another contractor finish. I am going to file a small claim this coming Monday morning (6/11) to collect my initial down payment. This company has done nothing, and will do nothing for you too. I wish I had read the reviews on this page before starting. I would have gladly paid a little more to have a job that would be finished with some kind of communication. You would think that a company that takes money to do work for someone, would also have the logistics and ethics to complete the job. Stay far, far away!!! In looking out for the little guy (us customers) I'll copy and paste this review everywhere I can, so everyone is aware.
