The Cengage book along with the materials online are not user friendly. They offer multiple chances but for myself taking Italian, has been difficult. Not only do they not offer well off descriptions of verbs, tenses and a general base understanding of the language, but it uses words never previously described. You are forced to go outside of the book which makes learning even more difficult. I do not recommend this book/program. Please look for alternatives to Cengage as it is not worth the time, effort put in, or the cost.
