Issues with getting an installation date

3

My family is beyond frustrated at this point. We purchased a pool package in mid-March of 2020. At the time, I voiced my concerns about having it delivered in April because I did not want it sitting in my garage for a month before having it installed. I was told to take the delivery date because, "you never know when the installer will be coming and you'll need to have everything there." We were also told we'd be at the top of the installation list since we purchased so early. The pool was delivered April 29, 2020. The day prior, we had the site excavated, called JULIE, as instructed, and had the building permit, which is not required in our county since we are outside of city limits, in hand. These were all things we were told to do. Knowing that the JULIE number would expire within two weeks, I voiced my concerns and was told it wouldn't be an issue since we were ready so early. During the month of May, I called the installer several times because somehow, our names kept getting removed from their schedule. I had also been in contact with our salesperson, requesting another installer or some guidance or advocacy with the installers they subcontract. The salesperson said there was really nothing he could do to expedite the process and that we'd have to be patient. The last date we were given was the week of June 8th. I called the installer on June 2 to confirm the schedule for the following week so we could have the water truck ready. At that time, the installation company said our names were nowhere on the schedule. After getting a bit irate, I was told they would try to squeeze us in later in the month. I tried to demand that they make this experience right and that they honor the week of the 8th since we had been bumped so many times. She finally agreed to put us in the schedule for June 12 and 13th. Earlier this afternoon, June 7, I received a phone call from the installation company that because our pool is more "complicated" of a model, the installer has removed us from the list and isn't sure when he will get to us. He told the poor woman in his office to give me his cell number if I requested it. He did not answer, nor did he return my phone call. Would someone please reach out to us with guidance? Had we known what a nightmare this experience was going to be, we NEVER would have gone with The Great Escape for our pool purchase. We now have a bay in our garage that has been out of commission for weeks because it is storing our pool. Aside from that, there is a 30' x 2 1/2' hole in our backyard where grass is starting to regrow and it angers me every time I look at it. We are ready to send the entire pool back, but then we will get charged return fees AND still have a giant hole in our yard that cost about $1,000 to dig. We are at a loss here. User's recommendation: Unless they make this right, I would not recommend purchasing from The Great Escape in Davenport, IA.
