Inspection FRAUD.

1

I doubt anyone from Canadian Tire even looks at this so just read and be forewarned. I asked the automotive service manager at my Shawnessey Canadian Tire store to replace the left front wheel bearing on my car because it was making a loud humming noise. He said he would check it out and had me sign a form which I assumed was to have the work done. When I returned to pick it up, low and behold, he had charged me $60 to have it "inspected" to make sure it was the correct one to replace! Guess what. The form I signed apparently said it would cost me $60 for him to confirm that, yes, the noise was coming from the wheel bearing I told him it was coming from! WTF. I asked how he confirmed the noise and he said they put my car on the hoist and spun the tire! I said "OK then, which other tire is still making a rumbling noise, because you obviously inspected it?" To which he said "I don't know. You told me to check the left front tire." WHAAAATTTTT ? I asked to see the main store manger who came to the desk where I pleaded my case to have the inspection charge refunded. He basicly said - you signed for it, and you paid for it, therefore you own it. Lesson learned. 1)DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING at Canadian Tire BEFORE work is done to your vehicle. They are scamming you for an "inspection". (No comments written down about the inspection. Just "Inspected" printed on the service report. 2) When the work is completed DO NOT SIGN the service contract until you READ IT COMPLETELY and ASK about every charge on it. If you THEN see an inspection charge you may have it removed as per the store manager I spoke with. The new wheel bearing works great. Too bad they felt they had to scam me for a $60 non-existant inspection because I would have had them replace the right one too. Oh, and I won't be buying my winter tires or much else from them again either.
