Inside totally peeling for knee high leather boots

I bought leather knee high boots. The outside is perfectly fine but all of the inside flaked and came off. These shoes are stored in their original box as I bought them in AC. The flaking is so bad I can't wear the boots bcs it gets all over my clothing and ruins them. Obviously cheap lining! User's recommendation: Nice styles but ends up falling apart.
