Impossible to resolve billing error, resulting in damage to credit rating

I had an imagining procedure which should have been covered 100% by my insurance company, but Touchstone billed insurance with the wrong procedure code. I have spent countless hours on the phone with my insurance company, the referring physician, and with Touchstone billing department. I have contacted Touchstone alone 5 or 6 times. The error clearly lies with Touchstone but they have not corrected the error. Now, 16 months after the procedure, they have sent my bill to a collection agency and reported me to the credit bureau, damaging my formerly excellent credit rating. I have contacted them repeatedly over the past to get the matter resolved, and each time was told they would look into it and get back to me. Not once was my call ever returned - even from a billing supervisor. The lack of professionalism and competency of this health care provider is shocking. I would recommend picking a different provider unless you want to take on a part-time job called "dealing with my touchstone bill".
