I purchased a Home Warranty for my AC/Heat. I requested a tech to come by for the annual heater system check. The tech arrived and promptly told me that the entire furnace systems (2) needed to be replaced. The tech told me that the CO levels were over 10 on one unit and over 12 on the other. In other words the systems were malfunctioning. The tech also told me that the burners were producing an "orange" flame which indicated to him that there was too much oxygen in the systems and that was another reason to replace both furnace systems. The tech said that he could call the dispatcher and have a crew out "tomorrow" to replace both furnace units. I told him that I would let him know. I called another AC/Heat company and they proved that the ARS tech was wrong. The new tech showed me his meters and that both units produced "0" CO emissions and that the flame was a pretty blue for both units. No work was performed because no work was required. The ARS tech left me a bill for $8470.25, the cost to replace both furnaces. The new AC/Heat company didn't charge me at all ($75 was paid to American Home Shield) because no work was needed. KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN AND MAKE THE ARS TECH SHOW YOU WHAT IS CLAIMED TO BE WRONG!
