Ignore repeated requests in person, via email and phone to stop coming

1

Five Star Lawn Care is one of many companies that knock on my door and offer services. Two years ago, I verbally told the guy on my step that I was not interested in his service and requested that he not come back. Last year, I verbally told the guy on my step that I was not interested in his service and requested that he not come back. I followed it up with an email to the company, hoping that they kept a do not call list internally. Tonight they came and rang my doorbell after my kid's bedtime, set my dogs off like rabid beasts, and I told the guy to not come back, that I would give the company a quick call so they could correct it at the office rather than an individual employee being expected to remember which home owners said yes or no. I told him if they came back, I would try to lay trespassing charges as I only needed to verbally tell one employee one time. I also told him,, that I would call in to his office, because he wasn't the guy from last year. When I called in to ask to not have them come anymore the person that answered the phone immediately became combative, and I said just stay away, or I will have to press charges. He said "go for it". So I contacted the police. There isn't a lot of murkiness regarding the trespassing laws in Ontario. It's just a $65 fine, but people have every right to ask solicitors not to come back. I have every expectation that unexpected callers will not be ringing my doorbell after 8, after my little kid has gone to bed. I realize that I am not a customer, because we enjoy doing our own landscaping and lawn maintenance, however, they came to me looking for my business. Repeatedly. Short of land mines in my front yard, or rock salt out of a shotgun, contacting the police with a CC to the company is my only option.
