Hughes Roofing scam after 2014 ice storm
We hired Sean Hughes to replace our roof on 3/8/2014. We gave him a down payment of $500.00 to get moved up in line. We then paid him another $4000.00 on 3/17/2014 with the written promise of work beginning by 4/8/2014. Then the excuses began - too cold, too hot, no crew, etc. He finally had a roll off delivered on 5/3/2014 and showed up by himself to remove about 4 or 5 rows of shingles. He said his crew was at lunch, then later said they were finishing another job. He said maybe if we gave him another $1500.00 things could move faster. We told him we wanted a refund because he obviously couldn't do the job in a reasonable amount of time. He refused and became hostile. He told me to stop "hounding him" and to "back off". Strangely, he also began making disparaging remarks about the company where my husband works. Other odd and nasty e-mails followed. We have alerted the police about him and will proceed with whatever is necessary to get back our money and protect others from making the same mistake.
