House buying nightmare

On July 9th, I reached out in reference to all the issues I was having with my home. The main issue is the drywall and painting. On the same day, Hope Palmer reached back out to me in reference to getting some of these issues rectified and assigned Cody Hasty to my case. Cody and I played phone tag for a few days and eventually caught up with each other. We made an appointment to meet at my home on July 29, 2019 at 1300. I showed him all of the issues in and around the home and gave him the history of the lies being told and all of the different people who had been assigned to my case and whose all been out to attempt to correct the issues at the house. On August 12, 2019 at 1100, I reached out to Cody to find out who all was scheduled to come for Friday, August 16th. He responded, “checking on that now.” I didn’t get any response back to the text, so I sent another text on August 13, 2019 at 1106 asking for an update. My reason for being adamant on knowing who’s lined up is because I have wasted vacation days and contractors did NOT show up. I took off work on August 16, 2019 not knowing who all was going to show up. I was only certain about the time I’d scheduled with the cabinet company and with T&M AC and heat. Around 0900, a contractor name Darryl from the drywall company came in. He stated this was a four-hour job and he was going to reach out for some help. Roughly 40 minutes later, two other gentlemen showed up. I am not sure how anyone thought all my drywall issues would be repaired in four hours, but they tried! It is not complete, and I have a different color of paint on my walls. Two of the guys needed to leave early as they had other jobs lined up and the one guy that was left to paint, didn’t realize that the paint was an incorrect color. I pointed it out to him and asked him not to paint anything else. Melissa from MMC has reached out to get the paint issue resolved. She also stated that DR Horton was not certain of the paint color on the walls. SMH! I can certainly believe that due to the mismatch of colors that were previously on my walls. I texted pictures to Cody at 1503 to show him the new added issues to the home. My message also said, different day, same issues. This is the current state of the home. Sending this to the corporate office in Texas as I’m over this half work. The whole house needs to be painted. Framing issues for the siding on the right side of the house per southern siding. Another wasted day off. Cody responds back at 1630 “is there any way that they could come back next week with the only other option of paint that there is? There is only one other possibility and they will try to make it right? Would you allow us?” I responded back that I don’t have any more vacation time to take off for this house. Cody asked “what about Saturday? Just trying to help get this wrapped up. Thank you for your patience.” I told Cody that my son’s birthday party is tomorrow (August 17th) and I didn’t know when I would be available again. No word from anyone at DR Horrible. Over 40 people saw the current state of my home. Embarrassing! Remind you that any other time my house needs repairs, it must be Monday- Friday! On April 30, 2019, I met with Charles Cowart, a warranty manager for DR Horton. We’d spoke on a few occasions before setting the appointment to address the issues of my home. He was a fast talker and some of the things he was saying didn’t seem right. On April 30, Charles was at my house for over one hour going over my issues. He mentioned that he would make a good faith effort to get my issues resolved. He made a list of all the issues I addressed with him. We measured out bowed walls and mirrors. He also stated that they usually come in and tackle all drywall issues during the 11-month mark. Well I’ve been in my home for almost 8 months and has had 4 drywall and paint companies to come in. My walls, ceilings, and garage still look horrible! Charles asked me why I purchased this home with all the problems, and I told him that I was lied to by Jonathon and Terry because they both said I could make an amendment at closing and they would come back and repair all of my issues. That was far from the truth! Mr. Cowart also stated that I have an expectation set that is a little bit higher than what they are used to seeing with their homeowners! I stated that this house costs $266,000 and that I could have gone down the road and purchased a home for $170,000 that looks better than the *** I’m in. The house for $170k was built with quality in mind; not quantity. He also said that the standard that I have has not been met. Clearly it has not been met! I briefly discussed some of the lies that were told to me beginning with the sales representative, Sherry Bilvins, and how I could no longer trust anyone affiliated with DR Horton. Charles stated that Sherry is mean and has lied to other customers such as me. Is lying a qualification to work for Horton? Why was she continued to work for this company knowing that she has a reputation for lying to customers?! On May 23 and May 24, Charles and some contractors came in to attempt to correct some issues. The mirror in the master bathroom was replaced, rods on the stairwell tightened, screws in hallway linen closet that were missing from shelves, painters came to paint over they drywall issues. The walls were 75% one color. The siding of the home looks worse than it did before the contractors attempted to fix the bulging. This has been the most horrific, stressful building experience ever. I feel that because I am a woman, that I am being taken advantage of. There are a few things about this woman. I am strong, a fighter for what’s right, smart, educated, an Army veteran, and a mom! February 20th, I met with Rick, Michael and Frankie to view my home. They added issues on the list that I didn’t even write down. Frankie was assigned to ensure all my repairs were taken care of. He really tried his best, however, the 2 drywall companies that he used failed and used a different color of paint. As I mentioned in a previous email, I will be contacting a few news stations in the Atlanta area. This is beyond ridiculous! I am also asking that my warranty be extended past the one-year mark. Clearly, no one knows how to repair drywall and paint my home correctly. The contractors have been trying since February 2019. I’ve taken off work, had my realtor and mother to be present, and other neighbors. Another option is that DR Horton purchase this house back from me and reimburse me every dollar I’ve put into getting this home and the mortgage! At this point, this is my most preferred option! No one covers your furniture and the contractors do not always cover the floors. Hence the paint and drywall dust on my floors and items! DR Horton… America’s Builder; value-first dedication to the individual needs of every one of our nation’s homebuyers! Items that still needs addressing Neighbor’s fence on lot 31 needs to be moved over. My stake was moved in the back of my yard to make it as if her fence is placed correctly. Drywall issues Entire house needs painting. The siding on the home Leak behind master bathroom showerhead. In the pictures, you can see the water stains. Cody stated that he would get the painter to paint over it and if the water stains appear again, then he would have the drywall replaced. Smh. A plumber couldn’t find the leak, but clearly there is one. There are other issues in the home that I still need to submit tickets for but the ones mentioned above are the ones I’ve complained about for months now. As I stated in July, I will be reaching out to the local news. I’ve given ample opportunity for my issues to be resolved. If I need to take even further action, then I will.
