HORRIBLE! They calculated my subsidy incorrectly!
Never received 1095A to file my taxes April 2017. Marketplace had me listed as having cancelled insurance. Not true! Took 3 months to get legal tax document which resulted in costing me money (penalties) with IRS. It was my first year with Obamacare. Had insurance coverage letter from my Health insurance to prove coverage. Didn’t even know Marketplace was supposed to provide a 1095A by end of January, just like W2’s. Now MORE costly problems this tax year. I just did taxes with professional tax accountant. Marketplace told me over and over my monthly subsidy to spend on insurance was $423 per month. (Premium tax credits based on my fixed income) My cheap plan costs $405. IRS states my subsidy should only have been $372 per IRS form 8962. How can this be?? Now I OWE $396 to cover the costs of my insurance.... for 2017! ( I have th crappiest, cheapest plan. $7500 deductible. Same annual income. Zero changes to effect any marketplace calculations such as incorrect reported income. Salt to my wounds I owe tons of medical bills due to outrageous deductible.) How can the Marketplace NOT KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY CACULATE an individuals monthly allotted subsidy/ tax credit??? And no one can explain the discrepancy. Going to contact State Attorney General. Any other suggestions welcomed. Marketplace needs to be held accountable for continually costing consumers money for THEIR ERRORS.
