horrible service, scam and rip offs

2

On Jan 13, 2017 my fiancé and I arrived at Wiz Autos located at 250 Ferry Blvd, Stratford CT with only the intention of looking at cars. Our salesman Gabe Rios was very friendly and helpful in passing on the information he had about the car we were looking at. After discussing it and being told the final price we decided to have them finance the car with money down so we could take it home that night being they are located over 2 hrs from our home in NYS. We had the money to pay it off due to a total loss of the prior vehicle and money from the insurance company. We figured we would just pay off the loan once the paperwork was all in. Saving us from having to go back with the cash to get the car. After getting approved we moved into the office to speak to Meir Soffer. Meir was friendly and polite, however still possessing a somewhat cocky know it all attitude. He wrote up the agreement and my fiancé signed all needed paperwork. Now I should state that while this was all going on, it was after hours and everyone was in a rush to get out of there. Meir did not explain any of the paperwork and rushed her into signing most of the paperwork before I made my way to the office after her. This was her first purchase from a dealer and she had no prior experience about reading all the paperwork before signing. She simply went by his "good word" that everything she had to sign was strictly required for the purchase of the car. After everything was said and done it was well after closing hour and Gabe was kind enough to even go out in the dark and put on a piece of rubber seal that came off the rear door before we took off. That was the only good experience we had with the whole purchase of this car... The next day, I was looking over all the paperwork and found issues. First there was an added charge of $749 for GAP coverage. We did not know what it was and looked it up. In short, it is coverage for the loan so if you have a total loss of the vehicle while you are still paying on it. This coverage covers the amount left over after your insurance company pays out. So if you owe $10, 000 on a car and you have a total loss of it, your insurance company gives you $5, 000 this coverage would cover the remaining $5, 000. Now that is great you think. Well for one we had the cash and was paying it off once the loan was set up. So we needed no coverage. Also $749 on a $5000 raised a flag to me. After closer inspection of the GAP coverage paperwork I noticed that Meir had put in that we financed $76, 418.56. Yes that's right, $76 THOUSAND, When we actually only financed $6, 418.56. Also I found a charge listed for $189 for VIN Etching. Well after researched came to find out it's a service where they etch the VIN onto all the glass windows as a security feature. Alright that's cool, however when I looked at the car NONE of the windows had it done. I told Meir this and he asked, "Do you even know what you're looking for?" I stated yes i do, the VIN is suppose to be etched into the glass windows all the way around and it was never done. Wiz Auto charged $250 for them to do the registration, which moves us onto the next issue we had. We had told them the night we purchased the car that we wanted to transfer the plates we had from the wrecked vehicle to the new one, they said that is no problem. They issued us a transit plate that was good through February 12, 2017. While we were waiting for them to register the vehicle my fiancé got pulled over not once but TWICE and was told that they tried to run the transit plate and it was not on file. Also they stated the registration was still in the previous owners name! So I had to contact Wiz again, because they never gave us the print out for registration for the transit plate and have them fax me it so she had something to show if she got pulled over again. They obviously did not transfer the car to themselves like they should have since it was still registered to the previous owners I would assume as well. After seeing they charged us $250 for the registration I used the DMV calculator and they estimated the cost of registration with transfer of plates to be roughly $68. Now I called Meir back and questioned the cost of this and he explained that if it does not cost the full amount they charge they will issue a check for the balance. Even though I thought this charge was extremely high when they could of used the estimate calculator themselves I let it be. Now after all the errors I found and the added charges I called Meir and questioned him on each charge. After explaining the GAP coverage he still tried to force it on us and telling us we needed it, even after explaining we are paying it off that we do not need coverage. He also argued with me over and over about the price of it being wrong and that the amount financed was NOT $76 THOUSAND. Then laughed it off and said "at least it will work out in your favor, if you total it you will get that much". WHAT! are you joking?! no insurance company is going to fall for that. I could not believe that I heard him say that! After much time back and forth I demanded a new contract wrote up with the added charges removed. I also had to explain how I was NOT going over 2 hours to resign a new contract they could either fax it, and id mail it. Or just send them all in the mail. I then wrote out a letter to Meir, explaining the breakdown of charges and requesting the changes. I faxed, emailed, and mailed the letter so they had no reason to not receive it. I later got a call from Ralph Gamboian who was very helpful about sending the new contract out FedEx with an included envelope for us to ship back out to them. After we got the new paperwork we verified the charges were removed and got it all signed and mailed back. The corrected amount came to $953.12 lower than the original contract! We then got a notice from FedEx we had an envelope from them that required a signature. Well we had issues with FedEx not being able to deliver when someone was here to sign so they ended up sending it back. I called and questioned them on what it was, and I was told it was the title from the previous owners that we had to sign and send back. What? There should of been no title from previous owners that we needed to sign, that should of all been the dealers job. Later on I questioned the title again and got told that we did not need to sign it that they did on our behalf. OK? not sure what that was about since we never even saw it anyway. Well weeks went by and we still had no registration. We contacted Wiz Auto again to find out what was going on. They told us there was issues trying to get the car registered because the previous registration had both our names on it, where this one was only going in her name. Many times they tried to make us get new plates and we refused and told them from day 1 we wanted to transfer the plates and should be no issue. Well February 12 came and the vehicles transit plate expired with no registration still. Now the vehicle had to sit and could not be driven which left her with no car to get to and from work. Called several times and still got the run around, we will get back to you, having trouble, can't do it, need new plates. Over and over we got excuses but no answers. Finally I had to call the DMV myself and speak to the lady, find out how it had to be registered and pass that information onto Ralph who then passed it onto the company they use to register cars. This company was completely clueless to how to register the car with only her name. I was so unbelievably frustrated and dumbfounded at how much trouble it was and that I had to do their job for them. TWO weeks after the transit plate expired we FINALLY got the registration! That was TWO weeks she missed out on work because of THEM not knowing what they were doing. We then tried contacting Ralph again several times and leaving multiple messages to find out when we could expect the refund of the registration cost since it did only come out to be roughly $68. Weeks went by and still no call from him so I decided to email them instead. Days went by and finally got an email back from him. He said as soon as he got the numbers back from the registration company he would know what to issue for the refund. This was over a month after we got the registration and I told him I expected that to be plenty of time to get the paperwork he needed back. The next morning I got an email from him with the paperwork and asking where he should send the check. After inspecting the charges I noticed that he tried to charge us a $75 service fee. Really? another fee trying to charge us. I told him I thought it was absurd them trying to charge us a fee for the service of the registration company when I had to do their job for them. I could of registered the car myself before the transit plate even expired and avoided all the problems if they had given me the paperwork. He then agreed to eat the service fee and refunded us the remaining $217 which we just received on April 3rd. From January 13th till April 3rd, it took us to finally finalize this purchase of this car from them. Almost 3 whole months for something that should of been done and over with by the end of January. When we contacted Ralph about when we could see the balance for the registration sent out to us we also asked if anything was going to be offered to compensate for the two weeks the car could not be driven and the work missed out on. Mind you, I had made it a point to mention that many times while communicating with them during the process of trying to get the car registered. Not once did they acknowledge the burden and loss it was having on us and never did they offer anything to help or correct the issue. When asked this final time before I wrote this review Ralph simply replied, "We are in no way responsible for her missing two weeks of work." This was our first purchase from them, and we will NEVER go back. I highly suggest no one else go there either. I can only imagine the amount of people who unknowingly get charged for the extra charges they tried to throw on our contract. The whole experience was horrible and took far more time than it should have. I also forgot to mention the ABS light came on a week after we brought it home. Due to the issues I was already having I simply bought and replaced the ABS sensor that was bad myself to save myself the headache of contacting them with another problem. Do yourself a favor and stay away! I will be forwarding this to all review sites I find them on as well as the Connecticut DMV and Connecticut Better Business Bureau.
