Highly rated Heart Center? Missed my Cousin’s Marfans Syndrome
My Cousin was an inpatient at Emory for three weeks as they worked to find out what was wrong with her. She was extremely weak, anemic, and had several other signs of Marfan's including the elongated limbs, long torso, fingers, toes, protruding chest, major nearsightedness, and a heart murmur. Emory University Hospital dismissed her after three weeks and had no answers. The next month, her aorta burst. After her aorta burst, she had a 5% chance of living. She survived though. We have yet to figure out how a major, highly acclaimed heart center could have missed such an obvious diagnosis. Most signs of my Cousin's Marfan's are visible to the naked eye yet Emory missed it. We all live in Atlanta and have never been back. We won't even go there in an emergency.
