Highly Questionable Business Tactics

1

I had a reservation for 7 days (booked online via expedia.ca) for Best Western Sumas, but when I arrived - the front desk clerk told me that the room wouldn't be available for a few hours. I left, not realizing that I should have cancelled there, and instead got another hotel down the road. The problem? Best Western is trying to charge me for the full 7 days...instead of the standard 1 day plus tax. $800 vs $120 I understand (per their policy - as written online) that they can charge me for 1 day, plus fee, plus tax...but they are trying to charge me for the full 7 days...when I wasn't even there for 1 day. And the fact that I even have to argue this point to them leads me to believe that they do this on a regular basis and are not concerned about any consequences with their unethical and illogical actions and explanations...trying to rationalize why it's ok to charge me $800.00 for NOTHING!!! This is Borderline Criminal Business Practices! Take your cash, and give you nothing in return. And say (with a straight face) that they deserve it, and that I'm out of luck. That was basically theyre response. Similar to some kind of Ponzi scheme we always here about. And management has responded that there is nothing wrong and that it's my fault and responsibility. What a joke of business/hotel. Supposed to be "service" oriented and this is how they deal with resolution?
