High energy bill

I have lived in a 1200sf house for the past 24 years and have never had such high energy bills as these past 2 months. I live alone, I don't change the thermostat hardly at all (76 degrees) my bill should never be this high. There has to be something wrong with the meter or with the person reading it. My account # is 3000144137015209806 Question 3 on the ballot is looking better and better - don't want to change but unless someone can give me a better explanation then "keep the thermostat at 80 degrees and you will save money" I will be considering that option - FYI my energy usage has always been in the good category. I don't want or need a "Free Smart Thermostat" my airconditioner is not that old so don't even suggest that.
