hero 4 silver leaked first time used in water

I bought my hero 4 silver on 11/15/16 and used it a few times out of water and it worked flawlessly. On 8/5/17 I took it white water rafting, this was the first time the GoPro had been near water. We stopped at a spot to swim and once I got back in the boat the "waterproof" case was full of water and wouldn't turn on. Once I got out the raft for the day I took the camera out, removed the SD card and battery hoping that once it dried out it would work again.. no luck! I find it very disappointing that you spend around $300 for something advertised as waterproof and the first time you use it in water it leaks and quits working! I find it even more disappointing that what even though they advertise as waterproof they don't back that up with their warranty.. GoPros customer service is an absolute joke, their "24/7" live chat is either closed or all agents are busy with other customers, when you try to call you get put on hold for however long you're willing to stay on the phone. They have no email that you can message, even tried messaging them on Facebook with no response. Thanks to GoPros lies and terrible service I now have a $300 paper weight. They will never see another dime or my money and I'll do my best to let everyone I know looking for an action camera to look elsewhere!
