I attended back in 99-2000-ish. I went for the A+ cert, then MCSE (network engineer) training. My A+ instructor was also a recent grad, but the guy knew his stuff and we went hard every class session. He even gave us "study material that fell off a truck" to help us with test prep. I passed my A+ 1st time around and started the MCSE training right away. My instructor there was already working in the field for a HUGE company on the government side of things. My class size was 4, which eventually dwindled down to 2 (me & another guy who was already 15 years experienced in IT field). My instructor or class mate would bring in real-world problems they either had the previous week or were working at the moment and we would work them out in class. We read very little and was expected to do that on our own. While in class we were hands on all the time and i learned so much cuz i would listen, ask, try (and fail) and try again and ask and neither of them ever talked down to me for being a noob , but would always encourage me. They gave me my pass for my 1st exam which i passed, but after the course, there was no follow up and to be honest i'm not sure if job placement of any sorts was ever promised. Why would it be for a specialized course work like network engineering? Regardless, i had my own contact and got into the field within months of finishing and has been a roller coaster since. Went from network admin, to corp manager of IT, to consultant for a variety of industries (learned a lot on that job too) to eventually owning my own outsource IT firm for a few years. Sold that off and now i'm back to looking for something else to do. Saw that they were offering Cisco course a while back. i just might look into it and sign up again cuz like i said, i had a great time there. Does any know if they are accredited and if so, by who?
