On 9/12/2018 I went to Coggin Acura to purchase a vehicle. After reviewing my desires with salesman Steve he asked that I fill out a credit application. My response was that it would not be necessary as I would be paying CASH He replied that the credit app was a company requirement and that I could be assured that this would it would be kept internally and would certainly NOT be used for any outside purposes This reasoning was reinforced to me by the Finance Manager. At this I made a purchase that I was going to complete several days later and gave them a $500.00 deposit check I decided a day later that I would purchase a different vehicle from a different dealership. I advised salesman Steve of my decision. A week to ten days later my deposit check was not return so I complained and had a "Stop Payment " issued for it. On 1013/2018 I received a telephone call from James Selcek GM of Coggin Acura asking what my problem was. Then I told him I had not received my deposit check back he made a joke about it and said it would be mailed to me It was. 17 days later (envelop postmarked) Now my real reason for writing this complaint. After them promising and assuring me they would NOT use my credit application for any purpose I received four notifications from banks that they had been contacted by Coggin Acura about a car loan on my behalf. I have kept the letters as documentation I am extremely upset that these people used my personal and financial information without my approval or consent(Remember I was going to pay cash for my purchase and they promised NOT to use my info anywhere on the outside) The excuse they used with the Better Business Bureau was that the credit app allowed them to LEGALLY use the information How honorable trustworthy moral and ethical they are HUH My dealings with them are not over yet but just watch your step and be VERY CAREFUL if you happen to get involved with them.
