Fraudulent Sales, Billing and Product Practices!

1

TOTAL FRAUD!!! (TLDR version is this first paragraph) This company is a total and complete fraud. We needed temporary insurance until my husband was eligible for insurance with his new employer. Ill get into details below but I want to make sure that people who don’t want to read all of this get the most important info right away. The original plan they sold us wasn’t even insurance, but they force you to agree to the plan before giving you any info whatsoever, and then give a time limit to read over everything before you sign, or the plan offer will “expire.” We called back, they apologized and gave us an actual insurance plan although when we received the paperwork 3 weeks later, we realized there were severe limitations on what it was supposed to cover. The plans were supposed to expire Jan 2nd, but they started a new plan without authorization or even talking to us! They withdrew the money for the plan and bounced our account, and even worse that was the money we needed for the employer plan, so we couldn’t even start our new, ACTUAL insurance!!! I called customer service, waited 1 hour and 34 minutes for someone to even answer the phone, and THEN, if you can freaking believe it, they transferred us to the “cancelation department” only to have the phone ring 5 times then sending me to a voicemail with a message saying “Were sorry we can’t answer the phone right now, please leave a message and someone will return your call.” NO option to hold or any other number to call to speak to anyone. Multiple calls and messages were never answered or returned. I promptly called customer service back and they told me they don’t handle the billing so there was nothing they could do. We had to a file fraud complaint with our bank to get our money back!!! I strongly urge you to read on, but if not, I hope this was enough to save you from making the mistake of choosing this company. A more detailed account: When we first called, they read off all of these “benefits” that this plan offers, then force you to sign up for it before giving you any actual literature whatsoever. When you ask for it, they “read” it off to you. You only get the virtual “paperwork” after you agree to the plan and they send you over to the agent responsible for getting your electronic signature, promising that you will get everything and can read it before signing. However, they email 10 pages of small print with multiple places to sign which technically gives you the opportunity to read it except the agent is on the phone with you and they are quite exasperated that you want to read everything while they wait (making most people uncomfortable enough to sign without with fully reading it). On top of that there’s a ticking clock, you only have so much time to sign before it “expires.” So, they assure you that if you find anything you don’t like they will happily cancel the policy. The first “insurance” they sold us wasn’t insurance at all. It was a “reimbursement” plan. They pay you $35 for doc appts, $500 for ER visits, etc. Even though they repeatedly told us it was insurance, it was not. The only way we figured this out was buried within the paperwork a box we had to check that said that the plan would not satisfy the government insurance requirement thus we would get a fine at the end of the year. Their excuse for giving us this plan was that it was the only one that “fit into the budget,” meaning that they took what we were paying for our previous insurance and decided that was all we had available to pay for premiums. Then I talked to a supervisor who apologized up and down got us an actual insurance plan. Pivot Choice 3x4. If that’s what you could call it. Here’s an example of the “coverage”: It’s a $35 copay for doctor visits, but they only cover 3 doctors visits per plan period. I had existing back problems, so for $200 a month I could get $75 for a doctor visit, limited to 3 visits total. I can get $35 for a wellness visit, limited to one visit total. These plans were to last 90 days, ending Jan. 2nd. Come the 3rd, our bank account was overdrawn from a $564 withdrawal from Adroit Healthcare. When I investigated it, my husband and the kids’ plan did expire as of Jan 3rd, but they took it upon themselves to create a new plan starting Jan. 3rd without even talking to us at all, let alone getting authorization! Furthermore, I found that my plan didn’t expire at all. So, I called customer service, and after waiting 94 minutes for someone to answer, they wouldn’t allow me to cancel the plans without speaking to my husband (who thankfully was able to answer. He works in emergency services and obviously isn’t always able to answer his phone while working). Funny they needed his authorization to cancel the policy but didn’t need it to begin the new one! So, as previously stated, they transferred me to the “Cancelation Department,” only to have the phone ring 5 times and send me to voicemail that says they can’t answer, and I must leave my number so they can call me back. I made 74 calls to this department over the course of the day, none of which were answered nor returned. That is the actual number of calls on my call log, not an exaggeration. And It does not include the calls my husband made from his phone. I thank God we didn’t actually have any incidents that required medical care. Considering the experience we had just starting/ending the policies, I can only imagine what would have happened if we had actually needed to use them!!! Oh, and on top of all that, after we purchased the plans, we kept receiving phone calls from representatives to trying to sell us health plans. They obviously placed both my and my husband’s numbers on a call list or sold them to other companies. It started with calls every hour the first day, but the second day the calls were coming in every 2 minutes. Sadly, you’re going to think that’s an exaggeration, but I cant stress enough that it is not. If I could, I’d post pictures of my call logs showing that the calls were between 2 and 5 minutes apart. And those times are not including both of our phones, those calls were coming in every 2-5 minutes on EACH of our phones. We couldn’t make any other phone calls or send/receive text messages (let alone do any of our daily activities) because the phones were ringing literally NON STOP. It took several days of answering and telling them not to call before the calls finally stopped.
