Forgot to Deliver Furniture

3

I met with Designer TC and she was a great and consultant. I wanted to purchase bedroom furniture from the Martha Stewart East Hampton series, which was reduced as it was being discontinued by Carls. I negotiated a fair price with Linda the manager and agreed to a Friday delivery date. I received a call on Wed stating the delivery driver would call me Fri am with a 4 hour window of delivery time. I received two emails the day before stating Friday was my delivery day and they would call to give me a better estimate the morning of delivery. The called and said between 2-6 pm. Great! They never called back, never came to deliver, or to say we need to reschedule. I went back to the Carls warehouse and went around back to the loading dock Saturday morning. I found someone who was in charge and told him the story. He quickly told me that I was at the Carl's Patio loading dock and I had to go a little further down the drive. I asked if this is common practice to not deliver or call to alert the customer. He kinda chuckled and said they were two separate companies, Patio and Carls Furniture, under the same roof, but yes said it's kinda common over there. I didn't bother going to find the furniture delivery group as I now wanted to meet with the manager. When I returned and found TC, she apologized and appeared to be sincere. She found the paperwork and said she would find out what happened when the warehouse manager arrived in the afternoon. I asked to speak with a manager and met with Bob. He apologized and asked if I still wanted the furniture. His first and only offer was to now waive the $99 delivery fee and $100 for my time and could re-deliver on Tuesday. I told him I lost a days pay as I'm commissioned waiting for his team. I didn't mind 4 hours off work, but their email said am and their drive said pm delivery, hence the full day off. I said I would like the delivery waived and $300 credit on the $3000 furniture order. He said no. When I mentioned the comments from the guy at Carls Patio, it struck a nerve with him because he went into a rant about how the break up between Carls Patio and Carls Furniture was really bloody, unfair, etc. Why is he confessing to me?? Hello Bob, are you new here? Anyway, I thanked TC, told her I hope she didn't lose too much commission and got my credit memo which shows a full refund. Since they wouldn't process a real credit on my visa card like most merchants, I immediately disputed the charges on my card. These slugs don't like to give money back. Felt like they were little less scrupulous that Brandsmart, if you can imagine that. Bottom line, I went to Baers furniture in Ft Lauderdale and ordered the furniture and they gave me a price mach based off the Carls invoice and 12 months SAC with 0%. Fred Friedman who used to run Carls is probably rolling in his grave to see how far this upscale wanna-be company has slid. At this rate they’ll be out of business soon. Buyer Beware
