Forced to Sleep with NO AC

2

My wife and I were cruising for the first time on RC. The room we were given had problems with the AC not blowing cold air. We immediately called maintenance and informed them about the problem, as well as informing our room maid service gentleman, Joseph. He told us to contact maintenance, and I informed him I already did, and no one ever came to check on the problem that first night of our cruise, 8/14. I asked Joseph if he could have his manager check on the problem and we never heard back from Joseph that night. Joseph did bring us a box fan after I asked him for one. My wife and I had to sleep in a miserable, HOT AND HUMID ROOM, sweating in our beds. The next day, 8/15 I called maintenance again and they told me that they would send a technician to address the problem. I never heard back from Joseph, nor his Manager. That night, on 8/15, we had a technician finally come to our room at 9pm, he continued to work on the AC system with my wife and I sitting in our hot and humid room untill 11:30pm. The technician told us that there was definitely a problem with the AC and said he tried to fix it. I noticed him using "zip ties" to fix the problem. He claimed he fixed the problem, but we could not feel a difference in the AC getting any cooler, thus having to sleep in a HOT AND HUMID ROOOM ANOTHER NIGHT. The next morning, I happened to catch a manager in our hallway, and she said she was aware of the problem. I explained to her our frustration with our room maid service, Joseph not having any solution for us, even after we repeatedly asked to be transferred to another room. She immediately called to check on another room for us and then found one and we moved all our items to that room. The AC in the new room was much better, but we transferred the box fan with us to use in the new room. We could not have slept at all in the new room without the box fan. My question to RC management is - Why is your room AC system not a digital thermostat system that reads the temperature setting of the room? I have previously sailed on Carnival and the AC was excellent, even on an older ship called the Freedom. Not being able to control the thermostat with a correct temperature setting can affect a person's ability to get good sleep and enjoy their cruise/trip. When we closed out our final bill/statement in guest services yesterday on 8/18, the lady at the front desk told us that management was aware that several rooms had problems with their AC system and could not properly and adequately fix the problem until the ship was dry docked for a proper repair. She offered us a 30% discount on our next cruise. This is simply not adequate compensation for our sleepless nights on the cruise. We had a miserable experience and will not be sailing with RC in the future. My wife and I had a desire to sail on the new Symphony ship, but we have serious reservations about our future travel plans. My second question to management is - Why would you claim to have a fully functional cabin with climate control if this statement and advertised wording is completely false, inaccurate, and even acknowledged by your guest service staff?
