Financial Aide Department

2

We have had the worst time with financial aid in losing documents either via email or in person. My daughter had an issue with them sending her account to collections without ever notifying her that she had an outstanding balance. When we called to inquire, financial aide sent her an excel spreadsheet instead of a bill. Upon further investigation we found that they had incorrectly applied payments from parent plus loans, student loans and ART grants. The financial aide department had credited funds then reversed them, only to credit and reverse again several times which ultimately led to them saying they refunded stipends in which we never got. There was an overage of approximately of 9k in payments in which 6500.00 they said we still owed the school. It was only when we threatened legal action that they took us serious. Oh and by the way they refused to give us Corporate accounting contact information so we could talk to them directly. We forwarded the collections agency all our proof of documentation showing we had overpaid and that The Art Institute had indeed not credited all sources properly which led to an investigation on our behalf. We are still currently working with collections to get my daughters account current and get all monies owed to us back. User's recommendation: Be sure and checcheck.
