Finally opened product and it isn’t working

My grandmother bought me the smart aroma humidifier for Christmas I waited until me room was remodeled to open it. I finally opened and set it up yesterday and it spits the water out. It says the max water is 409 ml I only added 309 ml and then poured some out and it still spits water.
