This company was recommended by my Insurance Agent. WOW First let me start by saying the roofing crew was a 4-5 white guys(depending on the day of week). They started late ended early, never working past 3:30pm. The first day, Tuesday they showed up at 10:30am (that's what they call "first thing"). They were gone by 2pm "It might rain" was the reason for leaving. Wednesday no real problem. Thursday, at approximately 1:30, I noticed no roof noise. The boss and one other were gone and two were asleep in the work trailer. Friday went as normal, Saturday they didn't show at all. No phone call, no notification just didn't show up. Contractor Marino stated it was because of rain. It didn't rain at my house by 11:30am, when I left. Sunday they finished, sorta. Oh and they ran out of gas for their generator and bothered my neighbor, begging for gasoline. Trash was left all over the yard, over 130 nails were picked up by me in my front walkway. 3 were taken out of my vehicle tires and 2 more out of my wife and my shoes. They still have not come back to finish the job, clean up the trash or pick up the rest of the nails. There was work not completed and the Contractor insisted I pay the final payment. He also decided to add $750 to the bill, which he claims was "extra work". NOT provided for in our contract. The bill still has not been paid, as he insists on accepting nothing less than the agreed upon price PLUS $750. Needless to say we are at a standstill. The checks are written (as agreed upon in the written contract) but he wont accept them and is threatening to LIEN my home. Good luck with that. Since Vincent Marino, Contractor/owner of Affordable Roofing, was recommended by someone I trusted, I did not think to check his background. What a mistake. He has numerous complaints through the Better Business Bureau. He advertised BBB compliant but checking with BBB showed he had been suspended by them for lack of compliance to BBB standards. Further checking of the guy (using Google) shows him on the Sexual Offender List for Florida. This is something that is public record and NEED TO KNOW if you have kids in your home. The problem is he wants $750 more than we have in a written contract. Aint happening. He touts his Christianity and ends his emails with he is praying for me. He got angry on the phone with me and called me " *** ***", then went into tirade when he came by (while I was gone) and went into a tirade in front of my adult son using more foul language, worse than what he called me. Yep, his Christianity is a real witness for the Christ he professes. He is now threatening to take me to court, lien and foreclose my home. What a piece of work. Pleas learn from my mistake and run don't walk if this guy offers to do your roof.
