Failed delivery promise

I ordered two items from their website which guaranteed 2 day delivery ie by Christmas. One item was delivered; the other was not. I discovered that its order had been processed through a secondary vendor and that it would not be delivered until late January ie 4 weeks later. I contacted B&N who refused to cancel the order as it had already been received by the secondary. I expressed my unhappiness and explained that even if placing an order for that second item alone, the website continued to guarantee 2 day delivery: clearly a misrepresentation. I recently opened my account to locate my order, only to discover that there was no record of it. I contacted B&N who told me that it was not their responsibility as they were not the "seller" even though the order had been placed through their website and they had accepted payment for this item. I would never place another order through Barnes and Noble and it would be no surprise to me if the company goes bankrupt given the numerous complaints that they have received. There are other more reliable vendors that one can use.
