I went to Katherine Gibbs in the 90's, I was expelled for what amounted to a non issue, I went into thru the wrong door. Yes. You read that correctly. I was on of the first Hispanic young ladies to attend at the time and there was a degree of racial tension. Upon my expulsion I was told the Dean of the NY campus that I would never amount to anything other than probably getting pregnant and living off of welfare. After I was shown the door, I applied and was accepted to NYU. Several years later I graduated from NYU at the top 1% of my class. One day while working for a worldwide advertising agency in the human resources department I received a call from Katy Gibbs recuriter solicitating job postings. I told her that I went to Gibbs, just when she though that we had a connection, I told her what the Dean had said to me. I took the highroad and interviewed a few Gibb Girls. Fast forward 38 years, I have had an excellent career, and that horrible Dean's mean spirted words did not effect me, but rather served to push me forward.
