Eli lily is responsible for making and distributing DES that has caused many issues for millions of people! My mom had over 3 miscarriages between the birth of my brother and myself. She was given a drug to prevent or to help prevent miscarriage along with bed rest fast forward after birth I had many health issues allergies and even put in oxygen tents at my own home as a child. I’ve now had two children and my daughter has autoimmune issues, female issues even ITP when she was 8. I’ve had female issues, endometriosis, hysterectomy, cardiology issues, skeletal deformities, endocrine issues stomach and intestinal issues, enlargened breasts, now Petechial hemorrhage in my stomach lining, collitis, breathing difficulties, severe lower extremity adema, nausea, vomiting all of which they’ve found before but never gave a name to it, do more medicine soon, it’s never ending and many surgeries to correct issues. I spend around $600 to $700 a month on health insurance and monthly prescriptions this is not including my copays and deductibles. I’ve not been able to find any resources to help me with any of these issues regarding DES abs when I mention it to my physicians they don’t seem to acknowledge or even know what I’m talking about. I take more medications than most people ever take and I fear that as I get older the costs go up and they find more health issues from the effects of this medication! Is there not any help or resources to help these children born under this medication and all of the health effects that have followed? I was born August 12, 1967 in McComb Mississippi, my attained age is 51 and the outlook going forward for me looks very bleak. I can’t imagine all of the money medication etc., that my husband and I will be paying to keep me and all my health issues will be in the future but it’s quite depressing and suicide contemplation sometimes seems like the best alternative than to continue hemmorraging money for medical care and meds caused from a drug I had no desicion to take for myself but instead to just suffer and pay. None of these issues seem fair to any of us that have to endure the legacy of DES.
