Driver Detective is SCAM

1

purchased Driver Detective from what looked like a dell website, but it was a mirror site put up by Driver Detective. Already had all the drivers they downloaded but after their downloads things got worse. Called their help line and for the first and last time allowed their tech to enter my computer. He claimed to be a software expert proceeding to tell me how MS Security Essentials is a bad program because it stops Defender, (which it does indeed because that's how Microsoft designed it since they would conflict with each other and SE is superior.) At one point he showed me a whole list of important programs that were stopped but when I tried to see the stop date and time he started ranting at me how I was going to harm my computer by trying to do that. He then started to 'look up' a 'Microsoft' online tech who would 'fix' my computer for another $199. At that point I cut his connection. Rebooted my computer wiping everything and basically did a factory fresh install. Working fine, but out $30 and a lot of time to Driver Detective.
