I know that marketing is everything, but really? I was really waiting for the launch. After months of hype and hearing that EMM will be different, that I will be mentored by one of NY’s greatest players the decision was obvious. I bought Mike Moreno's „mentorship” without even thinking. I’m disappointed because even though I think that the course is well prepared, there is nothing to do with „mentorship” here. I paid 70$ to hear that I have to learn tunes, play them with metronome and transcribe my favorite players. Just the obvious things you will hear in any jazz course. Is there sth wrong with it? No. But should it be offered as "mentoring sessions one on one"? No. EMM sold me on „mentoring” and "MOST INNOVATIVE AND EXCITING ONLINE MUSIC MENTORING PROGRAM”, giving only six short video lessons on very general things. There is nothing wrong with the curriculum itself, but after naming chapters so broad (i.e. The Art Of Linear Improvisation) I didn’t suppose that some of them will least less than 10 minutes and the topics will be briefly touched. In conclusion, I think the general idea behind EMM is ok, if you are looking for yet another video course. The company should work on the way they communicate what their products really looks like. And btw - I tried to solve the problem talking directly with Nanjo, the founder, but after one reply he decided not to follow up anymore. I don't think that's the way to solve problems.
