Documenting brand new crap

My wonderful children pooled money together to gift my Husband a recliner for his retirement. Chair was ordered in the beginning of September 2020. Chair was just delivered 1/2/2021 ( today is 1/4/2021). Visually the chair appeared fine on delivery. 2 hours after delivery we set the chair in it's place, my husband sat down to enjoy his new chair and heard a crack while the front right corner of the seat sunk. Due to this frame failure the footrest cannot be raised or lowered either. We immediately contacted the store where purchased and spoke with the most inept employee I've ever encountered. She stated the chair " may" be under warranty but she's have to check!!!! Are you kidding???!!!! This chair was in our home for 2 hours??!!! My husband was so frustrated with her, he told her he wanted to speak with the store manager. As of today ( 1/4/2021) store manager still has not called. In the meantime, I found a # for customer care, sat on hold for about an hour, was disconnected, called back and went through the whole wait....again. Finally spoke with a real person who was very nice ( and apologetic) . She set up a visit for a " technician" to come inspect the chair but first available is 1/24/2021. So basically we have to wait 3 weeks to have someone tell us what we already know.......the chair is broken. After reading SO many complaints I have virtually zero faith this will be remedied by Lazy Boy. I am heartbroken my kids spent their hard earned money and were so excited for their Father to finally get his (broken) chair after 4 months of waiting. The chair is unusable and likely unsafe. I will update as this unfolds.
