You don't need coinbase. We did an experiment buying $50 with a credit card to see if we could learn anything about cryptocurrencies. We realized it was a scam, especially if you're Canadian. Once they get their hands on your money, it's almost impossible to get it out again. In fact, the $50, which had grown to about $300, disappeared into the coinbase ether when we tried to transfer it via email. Not knowing it wouldn't work, we clicked on the email thinking it was a bank transfer, but we couldn't transfer the money to a bank account. The recipient was asked to open a coinbase account, which we reluctantly did. When I clicked on the email again to transfer the money to the new account, nothing happened. We now have two cashless accounts, and coinbase has grown richer, albeit by a very small amount. However, if something similar happens to other people, the amount may increase. Coinbase's support seemed promising, but none of their solutions worked, and now they no longer respond to our requests for help. We were told that if the amount is not accepted, it will automatically be returned to the original sender's account. This does not happen. We have repeatedly sent requests for help and are now threatening them with a lawyer. Maybe they will react to this negative feedback? But I doubt it. I have emailed founder Robert Hersham or whatever his name is, but the Messenger account is clearly not his because I received a cryptic reply asking him to write to his "business" manager in an email account not based on currency….. yes, no!So our recommendation to anyone reading this is to run away and keep their money safe and invest some coin based money.
