Do not buy Sansui LCD’s, they can’t be fixed
2
I bought a Sansui LCD from HiFi Corp just over two years ago for R18000. It is used in a spare room and has maybe 500hours of viewing time on it. 4 months after the warranty expires, the TV stops working. I contact Sansui SA and they say send it to MasterCare Earlybird which I did. 6 weeks later they come back to me and tell me that it needs a circuit board and will cost R3000 to repair. Not having any option I tell them to go ahead. Now they come back to me and say that they cannot find a spare part. I have sent Sansui two emails asking for some action, which have to-date not been answered. Legal opinion informs that that this is situation falls foul of the Consumer Protection Act and that I can take action, which I fully intend to do. I see that I am not the only one that has had this issue - tell everyone you know that Sansui TVs are not repairable and they may end up with an R18, 000 paperweight like me.
