On March 30, 2020, I bought a 9mm Luger EZ Shield at Prattville, Alabama Store . Background check came back proceed. The employee took my gun from the safe pit in bag had a lady take me to cashier. The employee NEVER allowed me to check my gun that was held for purchase, and per store policy it's mandatory. I never received a packet with papers. All i had was a receipt after purchase. I noticed after getting home it was not the gun i had put in safe to purchase after background check. I was given a 380 not Luger9mm. Called manager Meghan who said she will exchange it for correct one. I have paperwork proof. The box had S&;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;W 9mm luger ez shield but the gun didn't. Someone had switched the guns somehow. So when i got to store,Meghan Refuses to exchange until i do Another background check which i just passed 2 days before and told would exchange for correct one. Since I passed there should not have been 2 more background checks done. Store policy or not i shouldn't have had to go through another one. But i did and it said delayed. Per ATF after 5 days i can get my gun. But Academy refused. So 30 days goes by and per Covid19 ATF is backlogged. So i had to do another one(3rd) and it came back Delayed, again. I shouldn't have to be doing this 3 times. Academy should make things right and let me have the correct gun paid for. There was a white male customer who was also delayed but was given his gun by tall white male employee with glasses who refused me because i was delayed. I asked why he just looked at me with a smerk on his face as to say because your not a man. My family and I have bought all our hunting gear and other outdoor items at academy. And I'm really disappointed in how things have turned out. ATF has 3-5 on delays and can purchase but academy has a policy not to which is ok, BUT NOT IN MY SITUATION WHERE IT WAS THE STORES MISTAKE NOT MINE AND TOLD THEY WILL EXCHANGE IT. And that guy shouldn't have been allowed if I couldn't. He was probably a friend. I'm a female and travel a lot by myself. I need this for PROTECTION. I believe i have been more than patient with this store and situation. PLEASE LET ME HAVE MY GUN SO I CAN FEEL SAFE WHILE TRAVELING. Thank you for your Prompt attention.
