Didn’t ship or bother to tell me they wouldn’t

I ordered gift meals for Mother's Day, and paid extra to "guarantee" deliver by 8 May. Many items were shown as unavailable, so I selected those ready to ship. My card was charged. Status showed "awaiting delivery confirmation", until still showing that on 9 May. FedEx tracking showed no package yet. I called .... 30 minute hold ... person said .... "I'm so sorry. .... there's a hold on that, I'll transfer you" ... more waiting. In the meantime, and email message arrives -- sorry that is not longer available, please select something else of equal or lesser value. Next operator says, "Sorry, that's not available, what would you like instead." No information on what is actually available. I said "forget it, refund my money. When were you going to tell me?". Her answer "coincidentally, we were writing you an email message just a few minutes ago." Uh-huh. User's recommendation: avoid HarryandDavid. (Well maybe one of them is ok, but then the other is terrible.).
