Dictatorial, uncontactable, incompetent, possibly illegal

Update by user Jul 11, 2018 Trip Advisor still refusing to answer any questions about the alleged offending review from 10 years ago, probably because it never existed (nobody here had an account then and we had no staff till years later!) They still have us listed below correct ranking position but then, that gives them a good excuse to illegally boost competitors who pay more in commission. The CMA is warning companies like Trip Advisor about exactly this kind of thing and they may impose gigantic fines (we hope!) Trip Advisor still cannot be contacted about a billing issue, where we believe we have overpaid AND they seem to have charged us false bills on too many occasions. Are they run by Mafia (or the Irish Mob, since it is Boston?) Original review posted by user Jun 11, 2018 Main complaint: Sudden email telling us our business was being penalised for some undisclosed reason, accompanied with a lengthy statement from "Content Integrity Team" about fake reviews. THey stated it was only possible to contact trip advisor through them (yeah, 100,000's of folk been trying to complain to trip advisor for a decade or more!) We replied asking what the problem was and their reply was a review from over 9 years ago did not comply with their guidelines but still did not provide any information. They stated we needed to initiate staff training procedures and they might consider speeding up the mitigation of penalties......Training about what! - they still did not tell us! We replied again and pointed out that probably under Data Protection Act and Companies Act and definitely under GDPR they are legally required to provide the information they used to reach their decision and detailed reasoning behind the decision. We feel their refusal to explain themselves or to provide even a scrap of evidence in support falls under "unfair trading" so we said we would report them to Trading Standards as a first step. Trading Standards have indeed agreed to investigate (but we are not hopeful - trip advisor can afford lawyers paid more than the UK PM!) Worst of all, in our minds, is that they left it "over 9 years" out of 100 reviews - so why not contact us 9 years ago? Why not ask us about the review? Why just immediately act in a manner that will impact our business finances, despite not being a legally empowered authority and acting solely under Boston - Massachussets Laws - as they clearly state in their terms and conditions. - therefore out of jurisdiction here in Europe. We also have a minor discrepancy in billing amounts, dates and number of bills and find it is totally impossible to make a simple billing enquiry. Utterly infuriating and totally unprofessional. We have closed out personal account, paused our booking account and now await Trading Standards, before possibly passing this to EU GDPR Commissioner Margrethe Vestager and others for their edification. How can a hige company become such a bunch of shabby, crooked little Hitlers, refuse any and all attempts at protest or complaint or any contact at all and seemingly get away with it? It beggars belief!
