Denied credit approval for apartment rental purposes

I have decent credit, good rental history, no criminal background. The price monthly is only 23% of my income. I have a steady job that I have worked with for 1 year but in any industry that I have worked in for 15 years or more. Why was I declined an apartment? Because I filed bankruptcy nine years ago. Nine years and one month to be exact. I can buy a house but I cannot rent from Winthrop Property Management because they choose to legally discriminate against all applicants with a bankruptcy. When I tried to request additional information a woman named Courtney blatantly lied to me, did not return my call, and did not email me when she said she would. She was very snotty on the phone and would not initially let me speak to the manager. The manager made up an excuse, gave me wrong information and was unwilling to be proactive in any way.
