Debit Card Disaster!

I attended a graduation ceremony at this hotel (Hilton Garden Inn Houston Cypress Station) on 5/9-5/11. We booked well in advance. We wanted to stay at a nice upscale hotel for this trip. This turned into an absolute financial nightmare! My debit card was charged for the entire amount before I even had the card key in my possession $251. And when I asked about this, I was given the pending transaction double talk from a "so-called manager". I was assured there would be no more charges. The very next morning, there was an additional charge of $250 smoking room fee and the price of the room plus tax. Now my bank has been hit for $355! My mother also experienced 2 transactions on her credit card. She was obviously smarter than me! We went to the front desk and asked for the General Manager Timothy Pritchett. He explained what my mother's charges were. But when it came to mine, that was another story. I disputed that smoking charge and he said they would check my room again. I asked, will this be the last transaction on my debit card. He said yes. We were given a complimentary dinner that night. The very NEXT morning I receive another bank alert that my card has been charged again! This time it's for 461.14! At this point there are no words to express my anger. We were checking out so I would address it then. But when I came to the front desk, here stood the same "so-called" manager I had talked to originally. I said I will not paying another cent for checkout since you already have my money. "Just give me my final bill."" I will never stay at a Hilton again AND I will make sure your reviews reflect how I have been treated." Just when I thought it was over with the Hilton, I was hit with another 461.14!! This charge overdrew my account at this point. I am not a wealthy person and I work hard for my money. I never anticipated that one weekend could ruin my financial status in a matter of hours. I have filed a complaint with their Corporate Office and the BBB. There is no good reason for my debit card to be charged each day of my stay. I seriously doubt there will be a positive solution to this. But I want to advise ANYONE thinking about staying at THIS hotel (Hilton Garden Inn Houston Cypress Station), PLEASE USE YOUR CREDIT CARD!! They will deduct your bank account until there is nothing left. I am now left to dispute these charges with my bank and that will be a lengthy process. Meanwhile, I am suffering without my money. Hilton Garden Inn, you have taught me a valuable lesson about what a hotel can really do to your bank account! I won't make the same mistake again!
