been without ac for three weeks thanks to total air and my warranty people took two weeks for them to decide they couldn't repair the coil on my condenser and then another week for them to figure out they couldn't replace just that part since its too old and isn't made anymore. i start to think progress is made and then total air care wants to come at me with $1107 in code required upgrades that aren't covered and permit fees. no permit required for equipment swap in my area, that's $300 ripoff right there. then they want to charge $225 for the energy survey to determine what size unit i need, except they are just replacing my 3.5 ton condenser with another 3.5 ton. no calcs needed. I'm not in florida or a hurricane zone yet they think i need hurricane straps to secure my unit to the foam pad that sits under it. on top of that they want $250 to replace the wire whip that feeds the unit because they somehow know its to short for the new unit even though it hasn't been measured, they claim new unit is fed from other side but there is nothing stopping the whole thing from moving 2 feet to the left to fix that. nothing but scam fees total parts they are demanding would cost me less than $200 at the store on my own but they want $800 for it. stay away. calling in is also next to impossible can never reach who you need. and they cant forward calls, only email the right people and let you wait a few days for a call back.
