COVID-19 Flight Refund Refusal

I wanted share my experience with potential customers who are looking to book a flight with Ovago/British Airways. My friend and I were forced to cancel our trip to London because of the coronavirus pandemic and the travel ban that prohibited our returning flight to the United States. We were scheduled to depart on 3/19/20 from LAX, with a short layover in Dublin, and land at London Heathrow Airport. We were flying British Airways. Our returning flight was supposed to leave on 3/30/20 and took the same route back. Due to the fact that we booked our ticket with an outside agency, Ovago we were not able to get a voucher or receive assistance from anyone at BA, beyond an automated email. However, our outside agency determines its protocols based on the BA policy. They offered us the options to reschedule with some fees or to cancel without a refund. We tried to reschedule our flight for next March, 2021, but they said that the BA policy states that the trip needs to be taken by December 31, 2020. The only time we would be able to travel is tentatively in June, but we were concerned the coronavirus would still be at large. Ovago stated that the BA policy is a one-time only reschedule voucher, so if the pandemic was still an issue at that time and the bans were still in place, we would simply not be able to take our trip. We then asked if we could change the location of our flight or the name of the passenger, so that we could potentially give our tickets to someone with a more open schedule or fly to somewhere without a ban, but Ovago refused us once again based on the BA policy. Our flight that we were supposed to take was then cancelled on account of the US travel ban. However, we have not been offered a refund for this flight by BA or by Ovago, per the EU and US transportation policies. We were in contact with someone via email from Ovago but they have since stopped responding. We have spent hours on-hold and have not been able to reach someone via telephone. This is a company taking advantage of people in a pandemic. We just want to be able to fly in spring when it is truly safe to fly again. This is a company taking advantage of people in a pandemic. User's recommendation: Please don't use either companies.
